Letter from the Chair

Dear International Affairs Society,

Welcome to GW!  We are excited to have everyone back on campus to help us do what we do best, bring the world to your fingertips.  The International Affairs Society works tirelessly to open all the doors that DC has to offer.

To provide these opportunities, we offer many avenues to be involved in the IAS and in international affairs as a whole.  Our Model UN team (ranked 4th in North America by Best Delegate) travels around the country to compete against other schools in simulations of various United Nations committees.  Similarly, we host our own Model UN conferences for high school and middle school students, and we interact with GW’s affiliated high school, School Without Walls, to teach them about Model UN and help them run their Model UN club.

Our programming includes speaker events with respected professionals from around the world, visits and tours of local embassies, think tanks, and governmental agencies, professional development to help students build resumes and applications to get the internships and jobs of their dreams, and social events around the city to take advantage of our urban campus.  Finally, we publish our own publication, The Globe, giving members a chance to both edit and write on foreign policy and international affairs.

We can’t wait to see what this year holds!  If you’re interested in joining our organization, use our “Connect” page or email ias@gwu.edu.

We can’t wait to meet you all!
